Boogie on Down to the Blues in Aid of Langside School

Boogie on Down to the Blues in Aid of Langside School

A supporter of local disability charity Diverse Abilities, Nivek Kerley, is holding an all-day Blues music festival on Saturday 8 November, at the Hamworthy Club in Wimborne, from 12noon to 11pm. All funds raised from ticket sales and a raffle at the event will be going to the charity’s special school, Langside.

Nivek previously worked at Langside School as a support worker and has arranged the event to raise vital funds for the independent, non-maintained, special day school for disabled children, run by the Dorset charity.

A huge host of artists have signed up to secure their place on the line-up for this special event and include headliner and founding member of both Bad Company and Mott the Hoople, Mick Ralph, and he will be performing with his band – Mick Ralph’s Blues Band.

Appearing alongside Mick and his band will be four times British Blues Award nominee Alex McKown; ‘Blues Matters – Best Newcomer’ Ben Poole; local progressive blues band The Blues Machines; Poole-based singer songwriter Chris Rogers; Langside School’s very own Couple O’ Sherbets and a very special performance by a special guest and British Blues award winner Jo Harman & Friends, who will be performing an opening set with a band featuring members of B.B. King, Lionel Richie, Joe Cocker, and Beyonce’s touring bands!

Nivek Kerley, organiser of the Blues for Langside event, said: “My two biggest passions in life are live music and supporting children with disabilities.  I wanted to do something to fundraise for Langside, which is a very special school to me and many families in Dorset.  As I love music I thought it would be perfect to organise an event that lots of people can attend and enjoy to help raise funds and awareness.  I’d also like to say a massive thank you to all the bands and artists involved in the day, and their management, plus the support of many local companies who have provided fantastic corporate sponsorship.”

Tickets for the event are just £12.50 and all proceeds will be raising funds for Langside School. To purchase tickets or find out more, please visit and to receive updates regarding the event including all the latest announcements please like ‘Blues for Langside’ on Facebook.
