Play Opportunities Crew Member (under 18) – Coping with Chaos

JOB TITLE:  Crew Member (under 18)

RESPONSIBLE TO:  Play Opportunities Manager

REPORTS TO:  Play Opportunities Manager

HOURS: Zero hours

LOCATION: Poole / Bournemouth

OVERALL PURPOSE: To support children and young people with additional needs and disabilities and their siblings in their play at a variety of activities and venues.


  • Support children and young people with additional needs and disabilities to help fulfil their social needs through play / activities on a 1:1 basis
  • Play active role as part of staff team
  • Report back to parents about the child/young person’s experience of the activity
  • Discuss and report and concerns about the children or young people with senior staff
  • Adhere to the highest standards of safeguarding procedure by reporting concerns to the senior staff and by being aware of the organisations policies and procedures and attending appropriate training courses
  • Maintain the CHAOS Families centre and other venues in a healthy safe, clean and tidy state by reporting any defects or damage in equipment to the senior staff
  • Replace games and toys after each activity, removing any broken items from general circulation
  • Implement and work to all policies and procedures, which are available to read at the CHAOS families centre office
  • Attend and participate in all staff meetings, training and development as identified to develop one’s own skills and abilities. Mandatory Training will include: Health & Safety, Safeguarding Awareness, Communication and Safe Handling Awareness, Working in the Community and Disability & Diversity.
