Last Chance to Relive Well Known TV Tournament for Knockout Charity Challenge

Dorset disability’s charity, Diverse Abilities, has two places left for enthusiastic teams to take part in its second ‘It’s a Knockout’ competition on Sunday 22 June at Lodmoor Country Park in Weymouth to relive the magic of TV’s greatest tournament while raising money to support children and adults with disabilities in the whole county, and their families.

The event, supported by Weymouth & Portland Borough Council and Wessex FM, is a fun-filled, action packed day of games replicating the BBC TV show that aired during the 1960s and 1980s. Teams will compete head to head with each other in many out of the ordinary games in a bid to be crowned victorious.

Entering a team is Lisa Noel, whose daughter Amelia attends Langside – the charity run special day school that provides education to 28 children from the ages of two to 19 who have special educational needs and physical difficulties, often with complex medical conditions. Lisa and her team – DAP Dozens – is made up of 11 friends and family, and three of the team’s daughters also attend Langside or use the Project holiday activities service the charity runs.

The event starts at 2pm and finishes approximately around 4.30pm. Lodmoor Country Park is located near to some fantastic attractions, perfect for the whole family to visit either before or after the event.

To take part a team of eight to 12 people are required and participants must be aged 16 years or older. All children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Sharon Wells, Events Fundraiser at Diverse Abilities, said: “We’re really pleased that this event has gone so well and almost sold out! With only two more team places to fill why not get some friends, family or work colleagues together and join the fun in this action packed adventure race! By signing up for this amusing event, participants will be actively supporting the work of the local charity, and will have a lot of fun in doing so!”

The team entry fee for the event is £120, which is approximately £10 per person for a full team. A minimum of £600 per team (just £50 per person to fundraise) is also required as sponsorship for the event.

The charity also has many other events up and coming during this year, including the famous Chinese Dragon Boat Race – only a few places remain, the Kamikaze Run, a Skydive, the Castaway Survival Challenge and much more!
