Diverse Abilities is encouraging the local community to take part in Rotary Club run events this summer to raise money for the charity that supports over 600 adults and children with disabilities in Dorset.
If swimming is your thing, take part in the 13th annual swimathon organised by Wimborne Rotary Club at Canford School Sports Centre in Wimborne on Saturday 28 June from 2pm. Teams of two to six are required and those taking part have the added incentive of winning one of eight prizes of £100 for Diverse Abilities Plus. Find out more at www.wimbornerotaryswimathon.co.uk
If you prefer a leisurely 14km stroll while taking in some of the area’s most attractive scenery, the Rotary Club of Poole Bay’s sponsored walk is for you. Taking place from Poole Quay on Sunday 3 August from 10.30am, the walk will see the harbourside, Evening Hill, beaches, Branksome Chine, Whitecliff and Poole Park. Beccy Payne, Corporate and Community Fundraiser at Diverse Abilities said: “It is fantastic that the public can take part in a range of local Rotary Club run events and raise money for Diverse Abilities at the same time. These events give fundraisers the opportunity to take part in something different, so I’d like to encourage as many people as possible to sign up.”
In addition to the Wimborne Rotary Club organised Swimathon and Rotary Club of Poole Bay’s 14km walk, there are many other Rotary-organised events taking place across the country that you can sign up. Visit www.ribi.org to find out what exciting challenges you can get involved in while raising funds and supporting Diverse Abilities Plus.
