Diverse Abilities, the only charity in Dorset that supports children and adults with profound physical and learning disabilities, is giving the local community an opportunity to work within its supported living team. It is encouraging those that are looking for a new career in care to attend a recruitment event on Saturday 28 June from 9am until 2pm at the charity’s central office based near Tower Park.
The Dorset disability charity supports 35 adults to live as independently as possible in their own home and get out and about in the local community. As the demand for the charity’s services continues to grow it is looking to expand and is therefore seeking individuals to join its team to provide the vital services that are crucial to those the charity supports in Adult Services.
There are many prospects for those that join the charity’s services. It is great for those that require full time hours and are looking to progress within the care sector but it is also perfect for those that require hours that can fit around a busy family life by working on-call, waking nights or sleep-ins.
No experience is necessary for the roles as all staff have the opportunity to gain qualifications, such as a diploma level three in health and social care, and full training is provided in-house.
Lee Brady, from Diverse Abilities Plus, said: “We offer several different support assistant roles to suit a wide range of people that are looking for a job in the care sector. The majority of the adults we support require 24/7 care therefore we can offer candidates variable hours during the week and on the weekend to suit them.
“Our last recruitment event was a great success with a large number of people being recruited and now working in our service with adults we support.”
Alison Skinner, who works in the charity’s supporting living team with Andrew and Gill, said: “After working in an office for 26 years, it is great to now have a job that really makes a difference to other people’s lives. The people we support are amazing and make you see all the positives in life. In addition, the training provided by Diverse Abilities is invaluable, as is the support given by management. I would definitely recommend working for Diverse Abilities.”
At the recruitment event, attendees will have the opportunity to speak with representatives from the charity and find out what it is like to work for Diverse Abilities Plus, while meeting a number of adults currently supported by the charity. Interviews will also be taking place on the day.
The event will be held at the charity’s head office at Unit C, Acorn Business Park, Ling Road, Poole BH12 4NZ. For further information or an application form please contact Lee Brady on 01202 718266 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
