Join Dorset’s disability charity, Diverse Abilities, for its third ‘It’s a Knockout’ competition on Sunday 28 June at Lodmoor Country Park in Weymouth, from 1.30pm. Relive the magic of TV’s greatest tournament while raising money to support children and adults with disabilities in the whole county, and their families.
Supported by Weymouth & Portland Borough Council, the It’s a Knockout event is a fun-filled, action packed day of games replicating the BBC TV show that aired during the 1960s and 1980s. It is a highly hilarious event with teams taking part in a fun warm up, ensuring everyone’s spirits are high from the start. Teams will then compete head to head in many out of the ordinary games in a bid to be crowned victorious.
Sharon Wells, Events Fundraiser at Diverse Abilities Plus, said: “Why not get a team of friends, family or work colleagues together and join the fun course of exciting, challenging and amusing games! By signing up for this entertaining event, participants will be actively supporting the work of Diverse Abilities, while having a great time in the sunshine.”
Ruth Paulus took part in the It’s a Knockout event last year and her team, Blood, Sweat and then Beers, came third. She said: “It’s a Knockout was such a fun event and I can’t wait to take part again this year! Each game really got us working together as a team, cheering each other on and having a good laugh at the same time. We were so proud of coming third but this year we are all ready to win!”
To take part a team of eight to 12 people are required and participants must be aged 16 years or older. All children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Team entry is £120 but Diverse Abilities is offering half price entry fees if participants register for the event before April 1 saving the team £60. A minimum of £600 per team (just £50 per person to fundraise) is also required as sponsorship for the event.
